Bergamot:  Several studies have investigated the effectiveness of Bergamot as an antidepressant.  

Eucalyptus globulus:  has anti-inflammatory effects on chronic bronchitis.

Geranium:  can suppress the inflammatory symptoms with edema (swelling).

German Chamomile: 
The constituent found in German Chamomile has been shown to be a muscle relaxant in animal studies.  It also has anti-anxiety effects.  

Lavender:  In a Korean study, Lavender had a beneficial effect on insomnia and depression in women.  

Lemon:  has impressive effects on the circuits in the brain that regulate anxiety.  A Japanese study concluded that citrus fragrance was more effective than anti-depressants.  

Melissa / Valerian:  A combination of Melissa and Valerian extracts clearly showed anti-anxiety relief in volunteers taking a laboratory-induced stress test.  

Orange:  Two studies document the anxiety-reducing effect of orange oil in one high-stress site:  dental offices.  Another study showed the anti-anxiety and sedative properties of orange essential oil.  

Oregano:  contains constituents that are deadly against MRSA.

Peppermint:  is a strong anti-inflammatory agent.

Patchouli:  Inhaling Patchouli essential oil has a significant effect on the sympathetic nervous system.

Roman Chamomile: 
When used in massage, Roman Chamomile caused a significant reduction in anxiety in cancer patients in a British study.

Rose:  Three studies documented the anti-anxiety and anti-conflict effect of Rose essential oil.

Rosemary: 
was found to have therapeutic potential in the treatment or prevention of bronchial asthma, peptic ulcers and other inflammatory diseases

Spearmint:  inhibited a wide array of bacteria, including ulcer-causing H.pylori, E. coli, Salmonella and MRSA

Ylang ylang:  Inhalation of Ylang ylang caused decreases in blood pressure and pulse rate.  In a Phytotherapy Research study, it also caused a relief of depression and stress in humans.
